Cash rewards are earned in Rewards Mode, which itself has to be unlocked first — about a week of real Civic Mode participation earns your Voter's Pass. Once unlocked, every poll's majority outcome is revealed after voting closes, and matching it earns points toward your Rewards Score. Points climb a 6-gate ladder: Spark (5 pts, ₹10) and Edge (50 pts, ₹100) pay fixed amounts instantly; Seer, Sage, Oracle, and Legend (1,250 through 5,000 pts) pay from that week's real reward pool, up to a typical ₹10,000 at Legend.

Each poll is a simple Yes/No question. When a poll closes, Vaaruna tallies all valid votes and the option with more than 50% of votes is the majority. In Rewards Mode, users who voted for the majority option earn points. Results are publicly visible in real time — there is no hidden adjustment or editorial influence. One device, one vote: the result is exactly what participants voted.

Once you tap "Claim Reward" in the app and provide your bank account number & IFSC (or UPI ID), your account goes through an integrity verification review. Verified claims are paid from that day's payout budget — if yours fits, it goes out the same day; if not, it's queued and paid automatically at 9 AM IST the next morning. Your claim is never refused, only ever delayed by a few hours. You'll receive an in-app notification when the transfer is sent — contact support@vaaruna.app if you haven't received payment within 5 business days of verification.

Rewards are subject to an integrity check. Your reward may be withheld and your account banned if we find evidence of: creating multiple accounts, voting from emulated or spoofed devices, using VPNs to circumvent device restrictions, or any coordinated artificial voting behaviour. Our integrity team's decision is final. To ensure you remain eligible, use only one account from your own device.

Vote packs are only available in Rewards Mode, once you've unlocked it with your Voter's Pass. Both Civic and Rewards mode give you 10 free votes per day (resetting at midnight). If you'd like to vote more in Rewards Mode, you can purchase a vote pack within the app via Google Play — packs range from ₹19 to ₹175 and provide between a small batch and a large batch of extra votes. You can also watch a short ad (via Google AdMob) to earn free bonus votes each day.

Vote packs are non-refundable once the votes have been used. If you purchased a pack and the votes have not yet been spent, you may contact support@vaaruna.app within 24 hours of purchase and we will consider a refund at our discretion. If your payment was debited but votes were not credited to your account, contact us immediately with your Google Play order ID (found in your Play Store purchase history) — we will resolve this within 3 business days.

This can happen in rare cases due to network interruptions. First, close and reopen the app — votes are sometimes credited within a few minutes. If the votes still haven't appeared after 15 minutes, email us at support@vaaruna.app with your Google Play order ID (found in your Play Store purchase history) and we will manually credit the votes or issue a refund within 3 business days.

Yes. Your data is stored on Supabase with AES-256 encryption at rest and TLS encryption in transit. We collect only what's necessary to run the service. We never sell your data to third parties. Your voting history is private by default — you control what appears on your public profile. Bank details collected for reward claims are stored securely and deleted after the transfer is confirmed. Every device has a unique identifier (Android ID). When you vote on a poll, Vaaruna records your device identifier alongside the vote. Any subsequent attempt to vote on the same poll from the same device — regardless of the account used — is rejected. This ensures each physical device can only influence a poll once, making results genuinely reflective of real people's opinions. The device identifier is used only for this purpose and is never used for advertising.

You can delete your account directly in the app: go to Settings → Delete Account. This is immediate — your profile, photo, bank details, and personal data are removed the moment you confirm. Your past votes stay in poll results (so other voters' history isn't disrupted), fully de-identified from you. Alternatively, email support@vaaruna.app from the address associated with your account and request deletion. Note: deleting your account forfeits any unclaimed rewards.

Civic Mode is where every account starts — 10 free votes a day on every poll. Your votes build a Civic Score that climbs a 6-tier rank ladder (Voice through Icon), each unlocking a real feature like pinned comments or proposal priority. No cash, no strategic pressure.

You can switch back to Civic Mode any time.

Yes. Universities, NGOs, RWAs, companies, and other organisations can register directly in the app as an organisation account and publish their own polls to the Vaaruna community. This is a powerful tool for community surveys, student body votes, neighbourhood decisions, and more.
